OK. Vettel became champion. Red Bull too. It was a great championship! (although a bit short)

But what about next year?

There are currently two teams baring the Lotus name : Team Lotus (a team that has only been present for a couple of years) and Lotus Renault (the original Renault team).

This is quite confusing. And it is getting even better!

The current Lotus Renault team will be know as…….Team Lotus next year…with the current Team Lotus team being renamed Caterham. Why? A fight over the rights for the Lotus name (Lotus is a car manufacturer which was very successful in F1 some years ago). Still following?

Some might say the teams opposed to this decision are stupid (a name-change needs the approval of all teams for financial reasons which I’m not going to explain here)… But who could really blame them? After the scandals which occurred in F1 in the past few years (Renault Crashgate, Maclaren spy scandal), this is – for me – the worst thing that could happen to the image of Formula 1!

I am currently studying at the Ecole Centrale Paris, a Top Engineering School in France.
